Internal Privacy and Confidential Information Policy Healthcare Products Delivery, Inc. (HPD) is required by Federal and State laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), to protect the privacy of customers’ protected health information (PHI). PHI includes name, address, telephone number, date of birth, social security number, insurance information, and medical information. The law does allow HPD to use and/or disclose PHI for purposes of treatment and payment. HPD is required to implement safeguards to protect against incidental exposure of patient information. It is the policy of HPD to protect clients’ PHI as part of our internal security while working with this sensitive data on a routine daily basis. HPD may use your PHI when obtaining accurate information to coordinate the necessary medical supplies needed for your care, in the case of Nursing Assessments for example. HPD will also use your PHI in the reimbursement process for the medical supplies we have provided for your care. HPD may disclose certain PHI to other healthcare professionals if necessary to clarify or update your account information, in the case of required Physician Orders for example. HPD may also have to use your PHI in the event of an audit, providing certain data to confirm questions of deliveries, billing, and physician orders. HPD will provide a copy of our Privacy Policy with each initial medical supply order, or at any other time you may request it.
